Getting your property ready to let

When you sign up with us, we’ll provide detailed guidance on the standards your property will need to meet.

In the meantime, use this checklist to help get your property ready to let. Don’t forget, we can help with getting certificates in place if you do not already have them.

Property checklist

6Each room has its own entrance, natural light and natural ventilation 
7Kitchens and bathrooms have enclosed light fittings 
8Each room has at least two sockets 
9First floor and above windows are fitted with restrictors 
10No gaps in between bannister rails that compromise child safety 
11No electrical sockets on skirting boards 
12Gardens are not overgrown 
13No dangerous trip hazards in the property 
14No connected gas heater 
15No internal locks on doors other than bathrooms and toilets 
16Guttering is not blocked 
17Premises is clear of rubbish or building waste 
18Door numbers are displayed and there is a working doorbell 
19Keys for windows, letter boxes and communal entrances (where applicable) are available 
20Pipe work is boxed in 
213 sets of keys
